I have to get a guy down to the site just for the copper welding work. It takes two or three hours just to remove all of the old components and then another hour or two to prep the area. By the time we are finished installing all of the new machinery, it’s an 8 or 9 hour job. My coworker and I don’t usually stop for lunch. We take some snacks in our bag for lunch and some drinks in a cooler. When I have an all day HVAC installation job, my wife usually packs me a really big lunch with lots of nutritious and healthy snacks. On Thursday I got three peaches, two apples, two bananas, two ham and cheddar cheese sandwiches with lettuce and tomato, three granola bars, and two extra pieces of cheese. I didn’t have to eat hardly anything in my lunch cooler that day, because the lady of the house ordered pizza for my coworker and I. I don’t normally say yes when a customer orders pizza, but she got pizza from my favorite place and it was a pizza with sausage, mushrooms, and pepperoni. I felt awful after eating two slices, but it tasted so delicious.

There are actually two in the network, but one of the offices is on the other side of town and 45 minutes away from my home. The other office is right down the street and much closer. It’s always very cold at the office of the dentist. I have to go to the dentist once a month right now, because I am having some serious dental work completed. I am having all of my wisdom teeth taken out and I am also having some orthodontic work completed. I’ve been at the dentist a number of times in the last couple of months and every time I go it is absolutely cold and frigid. I asked the dentist to adjust the air conditioner before she got started last week and she told me that the temperature is controlled by the corporate office. I didn’t even realize that the dentist’s office was owned by a corporation. I thought that dentist’s owned the practice because their names were on the outside of the wall. Last time it was hard to stay still and I was shivering badly. The next time I have to go to the dentist, I am going to wear a heavy jacket and a sweatshirt. I don’t care if it’s hard for the dentist to work or not, because I can’t sit there and stay still for 2 hours when it’s only 50° inside of the building.

I called the heating and AC repair service company because there was a strange noise coming from the heat pump.

When I contacted the heating and AC repair service, I told the woman on the phone what was happening with the system and she told me that it sounded like an easy and simple repair.

I asked her to give me an estimate over the phone and she said not more than $250. After the heating and AC repair service technician was finished evaluating the system, he gave me an estimate for $470. The repair bill was double the amount of the estimate and I was very confused. I asked the guy to explain to me how it was going to cost so much money, because the woman on the phone gave me an estimate that was less than that. The repair technician told me that the woman on the phone was not a technician and although she gave me an estimate, there was absolutely no way she could be accurate when she was guessing about the problem. The repair technician offered to give me a 10% discount, but that was going to be the lowest price he could offer for the necessary repairs on the Heat pump. I called a couple of other places to see if anyone else was cheaper and I didn’t find a single heating and AC repair service that was willing to fix the heat pump problems for less than the cost of the bill minus 10%. I had to pay the fees for all of the furniture repairs.

Work has been particularly busy this week, because everyone is shopping for the holidays. The department store is filled with people and children. The parents are trying to watch the kids while buying presents for everyone in the family. Somehow it always ends up being my responsibility to wrangle the little children as they run around the store with very little supervision at all. I had to work overtime on Tuesday and Wednesday this week and the only day I had off was on christmas. Even on Christmas eve, I worked until almost 11:00 p.m. we were supposed to close early, but there was a line of people out the door when the doors were supposed to close and the manager was not going to shut the doors on Christmas Eve when people were running in and out of the store trying to get all of the last minute items. When I finally got home on Christmas eve, all I wanted to do was put up my feet and have a glass of wine. Unfortunately, I walked into the front door and it was as cold as it was outside. I don’t think the radiator is working right. There’s a radiator in the front room of the house and temperatures there have been uncommonly cold. I can feel the difference between the front room and the kitchen. I need to have the problems with the radiator looked at by a repair guy, but I can’t have that done until after the holiday season is over.
