With Christmas around the corner, I am getting happy for the season.

But every year our parents host dinner at their home.

This means all our siblings as well as our cousins and their youngsters will gather to celebrate the holiday. They use it twice per year, once for Thanksgiving and the other for Christmas. So, the fireplace isn’t filthy or filled with soot or buildup, however they love to be safe and will wipe it out before and after each use. They also check the chimney and the cap to make sure neither of them have any problems. Once they are done checking it out they will light the fireplace so that the two of us can enjoy it. And while the fireplace adds ambiance to the home, it is also a source of heat. When the two of us have it lit, we consistently adjust the temperature on the temperature control. I am looking forward to standing around the fireplace again this coming year.

Kerosene oil furnaces are a bit more dangerous and tend to be the cause of most of the space heating system related fires, however if a section heating system is used properly there should be little to no problems. For instance, you should never leave a space heating system unattended, and you should consistently keep it in an open area away from furniture or anything hanging like curtains. Although a kerosene heating system has the capability of heating a lake house because it can produce up to 23,900 BTU of heat, it is not recommended to use the heating system as a main heating source. Personally, I will be using an electric space heater because the thought of having a kerosene burning component in our lake house does not sound like a superb plan to me.

Although the modern heating and air conditioning units will be more pricey, the good news is that they will conserve energy as well as save homeowners money on their utility bills. Additionally, the more efficient units will create more comfort indoors and it will also create less pollution for the environment! This modern policy only applies for newly bought heating and air conditioning units, and if a homeowner has an older unit they do not need to replace the unit. But, as the older units are phased out, it will become taxing to find parts for them. This means that repairs can be delayed due to shortage of parts to repair older units. However, homeowners are not required to replace their older units, but eventually they will have no choice because of the modern policy. I’m glad our kids can see just how lucky they are and since the two of us visited that house separate from any commercial HVAC, I haven’t heard 1 complaint.

It also easily made a lot of sense to me and the way it was presented was not in a way that was just trying to squeeze more money out of me.
