The HVAC Heros

I wanted to use the word scoff, as I was reading the Good Book the other day and saw the word scoffer.

It means someone who makes fun of others basically, and I thought it sounded like a funny word. I have been reading some of the psalms to give me some insight on things and to give me some ideas for my music. Today is going to be a pretty normal day for me, as I am going to do all of the things I normally do and then head to the beach later to chill. My heating device is keeping me warm in my office as I write, and it is also saving me money from having to run the main HVAC system. I don’t like to heat the whole place when I am just in one room for most of the day. It saves me a lot of money having a small space heater like I have, and I am happy that the heating dealership sold it to me for such a good price last summer. I bought it right in the middle of summer on a really hot day, and the owner almost gave me the thing because it was so cheap. Now the little heating device is really coming in handy as it runs on very little power yet heats up the room very nicely. I should go down to the store one more time to say hi to the HVAC business owner and thank him for selling it to me so cheaply. We have some great people in this town, and no scoffers!

I have a monkey on my back telling me to move back home to be near my parents and friends.

My mom is 75 and she won’t be around forever, and living over here in Europe doesn’t give me a lot of time with her anymore.

I am trying to make something of myself with a career in music here though and it is a mental tug of war I have in my mind. I guess time will guide me in the right direction, I just want to see my mom some more before she is gone. My heating contractor friend said to give it one more year with my music in the local businesses to see if it is going anywhere. It’s funny though, because that was the same thing she said two years ago when I was thinking about moving back home. I still work for this local contractor here in town doing duct cleaning and HVAC service calls, but I could do the same thing back home in my hometown. I just don’t want to be back there wishing I was here doing my musical gigs. I will go one more year working here for the new contractor doing my HVAC equipment work and see where the music is at that point and then decide if I want to move back home. I just love my mom a lot and want to be around her for a few more years, that’s all. She got me into the heating and cooling system world and I really appreciate all she has done for me.

 

Cooling technology

In the wintertime it was tough working in the place because they didn’t use heat at all, as the fruits and veggies wouldn’t last as long.

It is pretty darn warm out today and I just want to stay out of the heat until the sun goes down. We have been playing music in the bars about five nights a week and have been making a good amount of money. They pay us $150 to do the show and then on top of that we get another $100 in tips, so we are making like $600 a week each just playing music. That isn’t a ton of money in the real world, but in music land that is called a good living. It beats the local business where I used to work selling produce, which was really tough to do considering they had no a/c during the hot summers. In the wintertime it was tough working in the place because they didn’t use heat at all, as the fruits and veggies wouldn’t last as long. Now I get to play music in air conditioned and heated clubs during the summers and winters, and make a lot of very cool memories in the process. I guess that is what life is in the end isn’t it, just a bunch of memories. I still pop into the air conditioning business to see my old HVAC worker friends and hang out for a bit, but doing so many shows keeps me pretty busy during the year. I hope that I can keep playing music for another twenty years and make it to 75 years old while still playing in clubs like the young lad that I used to be.

Whew, I am going to knock out one more article and then take a nap for an hour or so.

This has been a long week of parties and parades in my town and I am pretty wiped out from it all.

Today I am just going to do an hour of work online and then go meet a buddy for a short workout. Other than that, I am going to just chill out and do very little. We played a lot of music last night and I recorded it all, so I may listen to see what we got. HVAC repair is going to be the agenda tomorrow at the local business where I work as a heating technician. On Friday we will play again in the streets for fun and maybe even a little bit of money if people are nice enough to give us some. I want a new HEPA filter for my whole home air purifier, but I need to make a little money first so I can afford to buy it from the local business down the road. I think they are open this weekend and if we make enough money playing in the streets then I can buy one or two of them. We will be playing next month at this place with really good heating and cooling, and if all goes well they will have us back again for more shows. I think we can make some good cash this summer playing in all of the beach bars in town, and I may even work less at the cooling corp if we do that.

I have about an hour of work left to do online but I am so tired already that I think I may need to take a nap before I tackle the rest of my work.

I don’t have anything going on until 4pm when I go train a client on the beach, so I think a nice little nap is in order so that I have energy to get through the day. I was drumming last night and singing for about two hours, and today I am kind of tired, but we did record some good new songs. My smart thermostat stopped working for some reason last night and I was wondering if maybe they had some kind of batteries inside, but the HVAC tech who installed it said nothing about batteries in the thing. I guess it could be something else, but I may just call the lady and see what she says about this model. It is a new wifi programmable thermostat that I bought at the heating and cooling business and I don’t think they would put batteries in these things nowadays. But you never know, so it would be a good idea to give them a call and see what they have to say about it. I could walk down to the HVAC company, as it is only about a five minute walk from the local business where I live in the back. I will take this nap first and then when I get up I will decide if I want to call them or bravely walk down to the place.

We survived the crazy mardi gras week and a half long party in this town and now we are cleaning up the mess everyone made while here.

It should be back to normal by tomorrow and then I can finally go to the grocery store and buy food again since there should be food on the shelves once more.

There were so many people in town that the stores were all running out of food, so I just decided to wait until the whole thing was over before venturing into the store again to get some food. The local business near me made a killing with their air conditioned restaurant that makes crepes. I walked by one day and there was a line of about 90 people outside waiting to buy a crepe. The local contractor next door said they had a line of people all day long like that and that in his local business there was nobody. I guess it goes to show you that people like crepes more than feeling comfy in the home. I love crepes too, but with the HVAC system sales and HEPA filter sales that the new contractor had going on I think I might be more inclined to go there and grab some things that I needed. But crepes are pretty tasty, and when you are on vacation for Carnaval, well anything goes. I am going to work on my air purifier today in my flat and clean the filters in it. I have not cleaned this machine for almost a year now and it is way overdue.

I’m a bit wiped out from playing lots of drums and singing over the past week.

We played four nights this past week, and along with the big Carnaval celebration that was in town, I am pretty much tapped out with parties and people.

I am ready for a few days of hibernation and normalcy again. This town was so packed the other night with the parade that I couldn’t get back to my flat in the center for six hours after playing on the beach at sunset. Now everyone left town and we are picking up the pieces. Local businesses are opening up again today and they will go back to business as usual, selling HVAC equipment and all kinds of other things. I am going to go back to my workout routine with my partner and keep on practicing my music and writing. My heating dealership where I work doing heating device sales is going to open up again today and we will be back to our regular hours once again. I think next year when this crazy Carnaval celebration comes to town I am going to take a vacation and go somewhere quiet for a week or so. I could work on hot water heaters in another city for another HVAC company and just stay away from this chaos till it quiets down again. I just find it hard to relax when the city is busting out at the seams with crazy drunk people and loud music. My heating rep buddy loves this stuff for some reason.

 

Buying a gas furnace this week

Today is going to be a day for running on the beach with my friend.

The crazy Carnaval celebration has basically ended now, except for one more thing tonight where they burn all of the wooden floats that were in the parade.

The only issue I have with this is that after they burn it all on the beach, the next morning you can find hundreds and hundreds of rusty nails in the sand. I am going to talk with them tonight and make sure this year they get someone to clean up the nails the next morning. The local business near the beach told me a few HVAC techs got injured when they stepped on nails during an a/c job at the beach bar out there. This would be a big lawsuit issue in the States, but over here things are a bit different. I have to do a hot water install at that same beach bar later this week and I am going to go with my heating rep buddy and pick up nails on the beach if they didn’t get them all. I can’t believe the city lets them burn all of this wood with nails in it on the beach where we all play volleyball, it just doesn’t make sense to me. Anyway, enough of that malarkey, let’s get on with the HVAC systems and talk about the heating and cooling industry in our town. I’ve been working in this field for a while and it looks like the local business is going to close down soon.

I’m going to write one more article and then head down to the beach for a bit.

I need to fix my bike tire so I can start riding my bike again, but for today I’ll just walk down to the beach.

I am still buzzing from last night’s music session we did outside the big church on the sea. We made some good progress and recorded a bunch of new songs, maybe of which three of them are good enough to put online. It is kind of exciting to see how we are developing as a band! Heating and cooling repairs are still on my radar each week for this new contractor, but this summer there are going to be music gigs at a bunch of beach bars in our town. I think I can make enough with these gigs to pay my rent each month, and then I’ll just need some money for food each month and I am all set. The local business where I buy my food is pretty cheap and I can eat for about $300 a month. I buy my fruit and veggies at this little air conditioned fruit stand, and the prices there are really good too. If I can make that money from playing music each month then I could cut back on my hours doing my other job and life would be smooth sailing. I also have some stock in this heating corporation that my HVAC expert friend told me to buy and it seems like it could pay off quite well down the road.

Five weeks till blastoff! I can’t wait for this car company to start building cars so I can see what happens to my stocks.

I never got into investing until cryptos came along and lost all of my money, so now I am trying to get it all back with this EV company.

I probably could have left my money in cryptos but I feel that they could crumble just like that. This real company probably has a better shot at getting my money back in the long run, even if I have to hold it five more years. HVAC systems will be a thing of the past for me and I won’t have to do any more heater repairs or duct cleaning jobs if this stock takes off. I am also doing a lot of musical gigs and that could also take off and earn me enough money to live on. In six more years my heating dealer and I will both get about $1000 a month from our HVAC company pension. That would pay my rent and my food each month and I would just have to earn a couple hundred bucks to cover spending money, which should be easy to do. I worked for this local contractor in the HVAC business for about 25 years and now I’ll have money for the rest of my life once I hit 62 years. I will also get a big chunk of money from my dad’s will one day, so my retirement is looking pretty decent. I think I will still try selling some HVAC equipment on the side for cash.
