I recently switched from an old digital thermostat to a smart thermostat. And let me tell you that it works so much better than the standard digital thermostat or even an older dial thermostat. The smart thermostat took some getting used to and took some challenge in learning how to use the app on the cell phone and computer that comes with it. But once I got it all figured out I was able to really start saving money on my monthly electric bill! The reason for this is because with the smart thermostat you can program it to shut off when you are out of the house and then have it come back on while on your way home. This reduces the cost of your energy because your central heating and air conditioning system is not running twenty four hours per day and seven days per week. I really could not believe how well the smart thermostat worked and how it reduced my energy bill by nearly half of what it used to be. That is just one of the many perks of having a smart thermostat versus an old dial thermostat or digital thermostat standard type like I used to have. Having emergency heating and air conditioning home services is a real blessing. I am lucky enough to have emergency heat and a/c home services in my area. It is a good thing too because the other week my central heating and cooling system broke down in the middle of the night! I needed my air conditioning because it was very hot out and I did not have a portable a/c or anything like that. I did not have money to run to a hotel either. So I called the emergency heating and air conditioning repair service and they were able to get one of their most certified heat and a/c specialists out to me at 2am! Yes, that is right, 2am! They were there ready to work as if it was the middle of the day. They had my central heating and cooling system repaired and up and running again within less than an hour. I was pretty shocked at how quickly they moved after dark. Especially at that hour! You would think they would be very tired and wanting to go to bed. But I guess they work overnights and sleep days, so it does make some kind of sense. After a long time of saving up, I finally was able to afford a brand new and totally up to date central heating and air conditioning system! And with the hard work I do all week, on the weekend all I want to do is stay at home and enjoy my brand new central heating and air conditioning system.

It does not matter what time of the year that it is.

If it is the winter, I will enjoy the great central heating and relax in it on the weekends. If it is the super hot summer months of the year then my weekends will be filled with relaxing central air conditioning! It is so great having my new central heat and a/c unit. My old central heat and a/c system was really falling apart and giving very weak air flow in the house. Having this new heating and air conditioning going through the air vents has made my life so much more relaxed I will tell you. I feel so much better and recharged at the end of a work week too with as hard as I work. As they say, work hard and rest easy. And with my new central heating and air conditioning system that saying could not be more true now than it ever has been before in my whole entire lifetime. Working hard does pay off sometimes. And in my case, it paid off really well with being able to get this brand new and totally up to date central heating and air conditioning system unit into my home!

I think I overdid it with the drumming this past weekend and my body is suffering.

If this is what 80 years old feels like then getting old is not going to be fun.

At least I have a functioning body normally and I think I have my cold water dips to thank for that. I also do a lot of heat therapy beside my radiant heater and in my bathtub, which I fill with very hot water. The body likes it when you cool it down and then heat it up right afterwards. I try to keep my smart thermostat set to a warm temperature so when I am home my joints are warmer and less apt to get injured. I also use ice packs on my shoulders when they are sore from doing things like drumming for five hours over a weekend. I have a geothermal heat pump that is very efficient and saves me a lot of money, unlike my old oil heater which had the pilot light go out about ten times a day. I like this unit we have in our flat now because it requires hardly any maintenance at all. I was going to get a hybrid heating system put in but opted for the geothermal instead because it was a lot cheaper. I’m pretty happy with how well it works and with how much it has been saving me on power bills lately. The HVAC techs that installed it gave me a two year service plan for free, which was very nice of them.

I’m not sure what happened to it, but my heat pump is making a really loud noise and I had to shut off the central heat in my flat.

• It wouldn’t be a big deal but it has been very cold outside for the past week and my flat is the same inside.

I have a couple small radiant heaters in the attic but it is such a hassle trying to get them out of there that I don’t even bother. I guess I could ask the neighbor next to me if his son could crawl up in the attic and grab the heaters. I could pay him with a new HEPA filter for their HVAC unit or just give him some cold hard cash. I think he is about 20 years old and that is 35 years less on his body than mine so I’m sure it wouldn’t be a big deal to do. Maybe I could contact the HVAC company and ask them if they could get out here tomorrow to fix the heat pump if I paid them a bit extra. I don’t think they are that busy right now so maybe they have some free time to help me. They’ve had this heat pump service business here for the last 20 years and have built up quite a large customer base so they must be good at what they do. I don’t know much when it comes to repairing the pump so it’s just better that I don’t even try to fix it. I’ll get them on the horn now and ask.

If you look out of the window in my office it looks like it could be a nice warm sunny day. But when you go out on the balcony you discover that it feels about ready to snow out. It actually snowed yesterday for about 30 seconds, which is pretty wild considering it has never snowed here before. I guess the sky was very cold and the snow fell till it hit the ground and melted. I don’t think it was below freezing yesterday so it was pretty cool that it snowed a bit. I had my space heaters both on high all day yesterday and I bet it costs about $20 in power to do so. They aren’t very efficient to run but my central heat and air unit needs to be cleaned before I run it because it is filled with dust from the HEPA filter to the ductwork. I don’t want to clean it myself so I am going to call the local contractor and see when they can fit me in. I’m okay with not having it function for a while because the weather is starting to warm up and I won’t be needing to run the heat anymore. I just like to use the space heaters as backup because they are both quite old and eat a lot of power. I think they were made back in the 90s, back when people didn’t care so much about using lots of power. Now we are more green with our HVAC equipment which helps the planet a lot, too.

It’s kind of a cheesy name, Top Notch Acey Repair Inc, but they have great prices on repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment.

• Cheesy or not, I’ll be sure to use them when the time comes to get my unit serviced or maintained.

They just opened recently and are hungry for business so maybe I’ll inquire about their service plans and just buy one now so I can get a good deal. I talked with the owner of the place a few days ago and he is a really nice guy so I would love to give them some business. Maybe I can spread the word about their HVAC equipment repairs and get a better deal on my service plan. They like when you tell people about their company, it’s like money in the bank, and I know a ton of people in this town so it would be really easy for me. I had my own local business back in my hometown and I spent a lot of time marketing and trying to get the word out about my new business. I ran that company for ten years and then decided that I no longer wanted to be in the industry so I closed my doors and turned off the company phone. I bet a lot of my old HVAC customers tried to get a hold of me when they were having problems with their AC or heat but discovered my company was no longer in business. It was called FBI Cooling and Heating and everyone knew about my company.

It’s almost like having a maid in my flat now with this robot vacuum cleaner.

I have all hardwood floors throughout and it does an amazing job cleaning them and even mopping afterwards.

It works right around my space heater and tables without getting stuck anywhere. I really can’t stand vacuuming so this was such a gift when I thought about getting one the other day, and now here it is! It has a HEPA filter too so I don’t have to worry about the dust getting past the filter in it. I think it cost me about $125 and was well worth the price. Now I can focus on other things like cleaning my HVAC system and keeping my windows clean. That is about all of the housework I have to do here except for dishes and laundry of course. They need to invent a washer that also dries the clothes without needing to take them out and put them in a dryer. Why don’t we have these yet? They seem to have gotten the HVAC technology down but are lagging a bit in the clothes washing and drying department. Maybe if I look online I will find a washer and dryer combination already out there. The new HVAC equipment is quite amazing with its ability to keep your house the perfect temperature year round. It is also very energy efficient, using not much more power than my hot water heater. I think if we can harness the power of the sun for powering HVAC equipment we would all be set.

I’ve been having some issues with my HVAC system so I am going to have a technician come out tomorrow to see if he can figure out the problem. It doesn’t seem to be cooling my flat very well and summer is quickly approaching so I need to get it fixed soon or I will have some unpleasant days in my flat. It can get very hot here during summertime and I can’t sleep when my bedroom is too warm at night so I hope this guy can help me. It could be a simple fix, maybe something as easy as cleaning the ductwork or cleaning the condenser grill, but I don’t want to try to tackle it myself. I haven’t worked on that kind of stuff in a long time and would have no clue where to start. The local business which does the service calls has great rates on repairs and they are very slow right now so now would be the time to get it done. I think the hot weather will be here in a few weeks so I may have it fixed just in time. I don’t think it will cost that much to get the air conditioner up and running, and I saved some money for emergencies like this, so I don’t think it will break the bank. I am going to test the heat again to make sure it works okay but last time I used it a few weeks ago it was working fine. I’m sure the tech will solve the problem quickly.
