My home needed to be as comfortable as possible, because I was having some guests over tomorrow.

I had made sure that my guest room was perfect, and set up in all of the ways that our guests would need.

However, there was one small issue that I wanted to take care of, and that was heating and air conditioning. The HVAC unit was still working fine, but I wanted to be on the safe side and have a professional air conditioning technician look at it anyways. The heating and A/C specialist arrived a few hours later, and I noticed that he looked like he was barely out of high school. I first didn’t believe he was the actual air conditioning specialist, until he pointed to his cooling truck parked by my home. I let him in, and watched TV while he worked away on my A/C unit. After an hour, I hadn’t heard from him. I checked on him and noticed he was having a bit of difficulty. With something as simple as a HVAC maintenance, I couldn’t help but wonder if he was a new heating and cooling worker. He ended up telling me that he just graduated HVAC university and had only been working at the cooling company for two months. I congratulated him and we talked for a bit about heating and cooling technology. I was happy that he still did a great job, and afterwards he moved on to his next A/C appointment.

When it comes to logos, I know a few of the popular ones, but I don’t really pay much attention to them. I imagine a lot of other people have the same view. Anyways, I did notice when a commercial came on, that this was a logo I didn’t recognize before. When I watched the commercial, it was a commercial for heating and cooling. I thought that this must be a new HVAC company that I hadn’t heard of. But to my surprise, it was the same local air conditioning corporation that I have used many times. But they changed their logo to something new and cool looking. Considering that I couldn’t even remember their old logo, I thought that they made a good choice. Their new logo was much cooler. A few months later, I had forgotten about the logo incident when I was having the local air conditioning company come out for HVAC tune ups. When the heating and A/C repairman entered my home, I noticed the cool logo on his work shirt and I was reminded again of the neat logo. I complimented the heating and A/C tech on the logo and he said that they have been getting that a lot. Apparently the new logo change has become popular with customers, and they sell some shirts with logos on them on their website. I thought that was pretty cool, although I don’t think I would wear the logo unless I became a cooling worker. The air conditioning technician finished up the maintenance and left not long after.

Usually when I need to repair something, I can usually repair things myself. But not always. Sometimes the repair is just too difficult. I had that experience when my heating and A/C broke down. I knew that the issue had to be simple, because my cooling unit was almost brand new. So instead of paying for a potentially expensive HVAC repair bill, I did a quick search and found many HVAC tutorials online, and so I thought that the A/C repair was going to be easy. So I brought out my tools and started taking the heating and A/C apart. However, I didn’t make it past the beginning. Although the person had the same kind of heating and air conditioning that I do, a central HVAC, they must have had an older or maybe a newer model of central cooling device, because the inside was different. It was already hard enough to find central cooling units to repair online. Most of the videos were a mix of different types of HVAC equipment. I saw window A/C units, mini split ductless HVAC components and portable air conditioners. I finally found a video of a central A/C, but now there was this issue of not matching up with my HVAC system. I had already wasted an hour, and I didn’t want to waste any more time. I put the heating and A/C back together and I opted to call for a HVAC technician and let them handle the repair.

My husband has a natural talent for a lot of things. He is a phenomenal writer, and I mean it. As an avid book worm, I love to read and marrying an author was absolutely a great choice. This works out perfectly, because my husband loves to receive feedback. Multiple nights in a row have I stayed up, on the edge of my seat, reading his stories. That is how great of a writer he is. He is also pretty good at repairing watches, but his talent with repairing things ends there. So when our air conditioning device stopped working and he told me he was going to repair it, I laughed. I didn’t think he was serious, but he was. I once again told him that that was a bad idea, but he didn’t want to hear it. I knew this was going to be entertaining, and so I watched him poke and prod for the next 30 minutes. As I figured, he wasn’t sure how to repair it. Before he even finished, I call for an appointment with the air conditioning company. He eventually gave up, and the real certified HVAC tech was supposed to come here the next day. My husband hasn’t brought it up since, and when the actual heating and air conditioning professional came and repaired the HVAC device, I could almost see the jealousy glint in my husband’s eyes. Now he is going to write a book on HVAC work and equipment, he says.

Sometimes you have to do things yourself, or at least, that is my husband’s motto.

And as someone who spent many hours repairing electronics such as cell phones and TVs, I agree that that is sometimes the case.

But sometimes he takes it too far. You see, my husband noticed that our home didn’t feel quite as comfortable as it usually does. He brought it up while we were eating dinner, and I told him that I thought that the HVAC machine was having issues. He paused and then got up from where he was sitting. He immediately went over to the thermostat and started fiddling with it. He turned it up and down, to see if anything would change. But no matter what he did, the HVAC device would not budge. Instead of calling out a professional heating and air conditioning specialist, he decided he wanted to work on it himself. I told him that was a bad idea, but he didn’t think so. As long as he had the internet, he thought that he could solve anything. I didn’t think it was a good idea, but I wasn’t going to stand in his way. I left for work a little while later, and when I came home, I found my husband covered in sweat laying on the floor. I panicked and rushed to him. He was fine, but as he sat up, he told me that we were going to call a heating and A/C worker after all. Never again was he going to try and repair an air conditioner.

Yesterday was an interesting day.

I was taking my kids to the playground for some fun.

While I watched them have fun on the playground, I noticed that it was a pretty hot day, and I regretted sitting in the sun. But the parking lot where I parked my car was already filled with cars, and I didn’t want to move away from my car, so I was stuck. It didn’t help that there were only two benches, both of which were in the sun. Even though I was happy to see my kids having a great time, I was quite bored myself. That is when a man walked up and sat down next to me and we started having a casual conversation. I talked about the intense heat, and the guy told me he was a HVAC worker, and he deals with heating and cooling all of the time. He told me about his job and what the work of an A/C technician looked like. I found it to be interesting. I also learned that he was a single dad, and I was related to being a single parent and the struggles that came with it. We ended up hitting it off and exchanging numbers. By then, the kids were done with playing and ready to go home. I was happy to get back in my car, and as I turned on the air conditioning I thought of the cooling serviceman. I hope I can see him again soon.

When it comes to receiving service, you are going to expect it to be up to standard.

Of course, there are plenty of people that would prefer to take short cuts, or not put their full effort into their work.

I am the kind of person that wants to give it their all, and when I see other people not do the same, I find it irritating. Sadly, I have had quite a few instances of this. The first one that comes to mind is with heating and air conditioning technicians. For a long time I went with this one A/C worker. He was an independent air conditioning specialist, and since he had great prices, I always went with his services whenever I was having air conditioner issues. However, my HVAC machine would always break down, even though it was supposed to be getting repaired, it would continually break. I thought that it was my HVAC device, and I considered getting a brand new HVAC installation. However, for one reason or another, I ended up going without another heating corporation. The HVAC technician was incredibly nice, and they said the repair was an easy fix. They did a fantastic job and the difference between this air conditioning dealer and my original HVAC worker was eye opening. I decided that I was going to go with this new heating and A/C business from now on. They did a much better and more efficient job, and their prices weren’t bad either.

I was absolutely stunned when I found out the local air conditioning company was actually going out of business! You might wonder why that is so shocking, when there are different companies going out of businesses all of the time. Well, I am shocked for two reasons. One, I can understand to some degree why a lot of other companies might go out of business, usually because of lack of demand. But heating and A/C workers are never lacking in demand, in fact, I would say almost everyone needs a HVAC specialist in their life! But the second reason is because that local air conditioning company has been here in our area for decades! I remember my mother getting the A/C fixed when I was a kid by that same heating and A/C corporation. Now here I am as an adult, with my own kids, and I used to use their heating and air conditioning services all of the time! Now they are gone. I guess I should be used to seeing things like this disappear, since a lot of old items from my past have long since been gone. I guess with the A/C dealer being here for so long, I never would have guessed that they would eventually disappear too. I am sad to see them go, and since they are having a special on all of their products, I decided to go ahead and buy a smart thermostat as a memento for memory’s sake, just before they leave.

I guess I am not like most people, and the reason why I say that is because I don’t really care to have air conditioning that much.

I know, shocker.

Most people I meet talk about how much they love their heating and air conditioning system, and I just can’t relate. Can it be convenient? Yes, but I really don’t need it that much. Unless you live in extreme temperatures, you don’t need a furnace or A/C unit to survive. Since I live in an area with a fairly mild climate, I never have to worry about the outside temperatures. There are that many heating and air conditioning dealers in my area, and I wonder if that is why. However, even my friends that live close to me in the same climate, tell me they could not live without HVAC technology, and that they really enjoy their climate control system. I guess I am just different. Oftentimes, I will go most of the year without using my air conditioning machine or heating unit, and then when I do, it is only on days where it is abnormally hot or cold. On the bright side, this saves me money. Because I don’t use the HVAC equipment all that much, I never have to worry about maintenance nor do I have to worry about expensive repair bills. That makes it worth it enough to me, but I know for most people, they would rather pay their hard earned money than go without proper heating and cooling.

My wife really likes to be comfortable in our home, and one of the things she likes to make sure is perfect, is the indoor air conditions and temperature. When we lived in the city, she was always buying the best air filters, HEPA air filters, she could find and using them. Then once she saved up enough money, she bought a portable air cleaning system to keep our air clean. It definitely did make our place feel better. Although we don’t live in the city anymore, she still cares about our indoor air quality. The second thing is definitely going to be the heating and air conditioning system. My wife loves to have the temperatures at a perfect 73 degrees. However, it has been getting harder to reach those optimal temperatures, due to some issues we have been experiencing with the heating and cooling system. This obviously bothered my wife greatly, and she started talking about getting a brand new HVAC installation. I was more interested in just getting our current A/C unit repaired, but she told me she had been thinking about a HVAC upgrade, even before our current one started having issues, so I knew she was serious. She told me she wanted a new A/C machine because they would be much more efficient and save us money on bills. Now she is talking about working longer hours to save up for a new machine, so I am fairly certain we are going to get a brand new air conditioning unit in the future.
