The summer months or something that I look forward to every year. Summer has for a long time been my favorite season, the reason for the summer being my favorite season is because everything is beautiful and in bloom. Like spring, it’s the season of rebirth, whereas winter kills everything it touches. There’s a beauty to Winter killing things though, sometimes things have to die so that they can grow back stronger. Even though I know this, it wasn’t the easiest thing to accept when that happened to my garden. I had a small vegetable garden in my backyard that I forgot to protect from the frost last winter when the frost killed them. So I had to start again in the spring. Now that the summer is here I’ve been really spending a lot of my time outside and I’ve only been going inside when I get too hot and that’s only to enjoy my air conditioning system. I have a really nice air conditioning system that could keep me cool no matter how hot it is outside. Sometimes I have the AC dialed up so high that my house feels like walking into a freezer. Normally that would be too cold for me but after just spending all my time out of the house and in the heat it feels perfect. I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of the summer heat and all the fun activities that I have planned that come with it. I look forward to the warmth of the outside and the coolness of the inside.

Some people turn on a heater everytime they are cold, however I use a traditional system every time I want to keep warm.

I normally keep warm by sitting in front of my fireplace.

I prefer the natural heat of a fireplace rather than the unnatural heat of the central heating system. Sure central heating systems are nice because they spread the heat all throughout the house, but there is nothing like sitting in front of a fire. There’s almost like this primal nature to it, it’s just something that seems so old and yet so familiar at the same time. It’s hard to describe it in words. Anyways, I guess what I’m trying to say is it has a really special feeling to it, and I’ve always been someone that loves fire. As the saying goes you play with fire and you get burned. This was true for me because when I was a kid I used to terrify my parents all the time by quite literally playing with fire. I never intentionally terrified them, it’s just that I always got into some dangerous activities that always give my parents a heart attack. I find it hilarious but also feel bad at the same time when I look back at it. It’s funny just because of some of the crazy things I did but at the same time it’s kind of scary when you think of the danger you were in and you didn’t even realize it. Anyways as I got older I learned to play with fire in safe ways that didn’t risk burning our house down, I never got over my love for fire or fireplaces and so when I got to place my own I made sure that I got one that had a fireplace in it. There is no heat like the heat from a fireplace.

My brother was finally going through his basement.

• When he moved out, he took a lot of large boxes with him, and some of those boxes contained my things.

Most of the boxes were a random assortment of items belonging to different family members, so my brother has been slowly returning everything as he sorts through. Well, yesterday he called and told me that one of the boxes he found has almost entirely my things in it. Since it was a fairly large box, he told me I should bring my car and take it with me. I knew I was off today, and so I agreed. It wasn’t until around noon that I actually left to go get my things. I wanted this to be a quick trip, and so I was in a bit of a rush. When I arrived at his place, I was amazed at how heated it felt inside of his home. It felt like he was living in a furnace! When I asked him about his place, he told me he doesn’t have air conditioning anymore. I was shocked, why was he living without cooling? My brother seemed quite proud of himself for living without heating and air conditioning, which only confused me further. I love my climate control, and would never dream of living without it. The lack of A/C gave me even more reason to leave, and so I only stayed at his place for 10 minutes before getting back into my air conditioned car.

Somehow, the central cooling unit outside always manages to get covered in a lot of debris.

Leaves, sticks, twigs and all other kinds of stuff end up inside the HVAC system.

I have even seen dead bugs around it, which is gross. I worry that this may interfere with my air conditioner’s efficiency, so I make sure to clean it out when I can. But what happens when I don’t have enough time? I have recently started working outside of my home again, and that is one of the issues with working outside of your home. When I worked at home, I had more time and was able to clean the A/C machine a lot more often. But since I have to deal with traffic and longer work hours, I don’t have as much time anymore. Months went by without cleaning out the A/C machine, and I kind of forgot about it. It wasn’t until I was outside doing some yard work that I noticed the state it was in. Unfortunately, I still didn’t have enough time to clean it, but I had an idea. It was time for a heating and A/C tune up anyway, so I was going to ask the HVAC technician to clean the machine out. When I called the local air conditioning company, they told me that they would be happy to clean out the A/C device! The appointment was scheduled on Saturday, and I was glad to know that I won’t have to worry about the cooling unit being dirty or working less efficiently because of the mess.

He was working in the room where they were doing embalming, and he realized he knew the person the mortician was working on

My husband and I were looking for our perfect home. We quickly realized there was no perfect when you were on a tight budget and had to settle for nearly perfect. There was no finished basement or new HVAC system in the house. Our basement was all dirty and damp, and the HVAC system needed to be replaced as soon as possible. It was fall, and our first change was installing a new furnace. We also had to install a sump pump because of the wet floor. It was more like mud, and I realized the HVAC technician was going to need to work in that filth. I could only imagine the HVAC team getting the furnace into the basement, and someone needing to crawl around in the mud to do the installation. I felt guilty doing this to the HVAC technician. When the HVAC team arrived with the furnace, I winced when I showed them to the basement. I followed them downstairs and apologized for the basement. We had just bought the house and hadn’t had time to make any repairs. The HVAC technician waved me away and said it wasn’t a big deal. They had been in a lot worse places than this one. He told me how he had to install a new HVAC system in a mortuary. He was working in the room where they were doing embalming, and he realized he knew the person the mortician was working on. He threw up all over the sterile floor. The mortician was devastated, but he was so embarrassed that he cried like a baby.

When I called the HVAC company for an emergency furnace repair, I thought I would need to wait.

• The next morning, I had the HVAC technician knocking on my door.

I was busy doing laundry in the kitchen and cleaning, and showed him to the basement before going back to work. About half an hour later, I heard the most horrendous sound coming from the basement. I thought the HVAC technician was injured and I didn’t know if I should call an ambulance, go check on him, or both. I went over to the basement and checked to see what I could hear. I opened the door, and I heard music. That’s when I realized the HVAC technician wasn’t hurt, but he was singing. I silently closed the door and couldn’t stop laughing when I went back to work. When the HVAC technician came back upstairs, he sat down at the table and told me what he found wrong with the furnace. We discussed the bill, and then he was gone. I sat there and laughed like I was a lunatic. I couldn’t believe I thought the HVAC technician was injured when he was only singing. When my husband got home from work, I told him what had happened, and we laughed over the anecdote. I wasn’t laughing at the HVAC technician, but at my response to his singing. My husband told me I should leave the basement door open the next time the HVAC technician was there. I didn’t think that was a good idea because I didn’t want to be caught laughing.

He had arrived about half an hour earlier to look at my furnace.

I called the HVAC company the previous day and told them I was losing airflow. Luckily, they had an opening the next day and the HVAC technician was right on time. I had never had an HVAC technician arrive at his appointed time. I never had any type of service person arrived at their appointed time. When I got into the basement, the HVAC technician was holding his chest and turning red. At first, I thought he was choking, but then I realized he was looking blue around the lips. The HVAC technician was having a heart attack, and I didn’t know CPR. I called an ambulance and got him to sit down. He was waving at me, and I noticed his lunch box was open. That’s when I realized he was choking. I pounded hard on his back while he was leaning over, and a whole egg popped out of his mouth. I almost laughed out loud. He said he was starving and had just put the egg in his mouth when he heard me coming down the steps. He didn’t want me to think he was wasting time while fixing the furnace, so he pushed it in and hid that he was eating. I felt bad for the HVAC technician, but it was funny. I told him I would rather see an HVAC technician eating on the job than laying down on my floor dead from a heart attack or choking.

So, I am only 4’8” tall and weigh about 75 pounds. I am petite and nimble, and no one told me I couldn’t be an HVAC technician. I was raised to believe I could be anything I wanted to be. All I had to do was work hard and continue to work hard. That is what I am doing. I created a commotion when I walked into the HVAC class. Not only was I small in stature, but I was a woman. Men and women were staring at me. No one looked at me more intensely than the 6’ 6” brawny HVAC instructor that saw me walking in. I slid into a seat in front of the room and listened to every word he had to say. He kept giving me a look that I wasn’t sure was anger or interest. After class, he asked me to wait, and I asked if he was angry. My dad looked at me and asked why I hadn’t told him I signed up for the class. I said that I thought he would try to stop me from becoming an HVAC technician. I knew he would have never done that, but encouraged me to do whatever I wanted. He shook his head and started laughing. He gave me a hug and told me to get back to class. He wouldn’t act like there was any connection between us, and I didn’t expect him to make any concessions for me. I didn’t want to disappoint him if I didn’t do well. Just like everything else in my life, I was about to face one more hurdle, and I would do it well.

Recently, I found myself pitching the plan to our Grandparents that they would benefit from a central heating, ventilation plus A/C system.

This may seem absurd, however you have to understand that they are seriously old-fashioned.

They also really feel how to pinch their pennies. However, they are retired now as well as between the two of them they have plenty of cash to spare, so I really want them to invest in a central heating, ventilation plus A/C system! I do not understand how they have been able to get along separate from a single for so long where they live. It really can get quite frosty in the Wintertide as well as snowfall is common. Moreover, the Summer is no walk in the park either! Last year’s heat wave left their area in the triple digits for nearly a week! I have tried to tell them that it will help improve their indoor air quality. I have also mentioned that an Heating plus A/C plan will help maintain standard moisture levels within the home so that it doesn’t end up too humid or too dry, then grandpa even complains about not being able to sleep truly well lately, so I told him that an air conditioning system will help keep his room nice as well as cool, which is truly conducive for a wonderful night’s rest! I suppose I am beginning to convince them, but after all, saving cash religiously is a single thing, however they do not have truly several years left, as well as they should finally just let loose as well as prefer what time they have left!
