We wanted to save our fish

Last fall when the weather started cooling off, we knew that we were going to have to do something to save our goldfish from the cold weather and the low temperatures. We really loved the fish in our pond, and they brought us a whole lot of joy during the spring and the summer that year. We weren’t worried about them being out in the pond at all during the spring and the summer when the temperatures outside were so warm. But then whenever the temperatures started cooling off around the first week of October, we knew that we were going to be in trouble if we didn’t do something about our fish. I wasn’t sure what in the world we were going to do about them, since we didn’t really have anywhere suitable for them to live throughout the winter. I couldn’t exactly keep them in buckets in the basement in the furnace room for the whole winter. So I did a little bit of research to try and figure out what we should do about them. I found out that there are these special heating systems that you can purchase to put into your landscaping ponds to keep the water temperatures high enough through the winter for your fish to survive. This was all news to me, since I thought that our options at that point were really limited! Thank goodness I read about those pond heating systems. We called the landscaping company to purchase one and after they installed it, our goldfish stayed warm and toasty all winter long.
