With the rising cost of everything, I have decided to conserve energy in our lake house so that I could save some money and my plan is to use a small heating system instead of using our main central heating. I must admit that I am a bit wary about using a portable heating system because it does have a bad reputation for causing fires. Of course, a lot of times those fires are perhaps due to negligence or misuse of the heating system, but that doesn’t stop me from being upset about them. Modern space heaters should be used as a supplement to central heating and not as a main source of heat, but several people use them as a primary way to heat their homes. I understand why, because it costs a lot more money to heat our homes in the wintertime months. There are various types of heaters: kerosene and electric heaters. Kerosene oil furnaces are a bit more dangerous and tend to be the cause of most of the space heating system related fires, however if a section heating system is used properly there should be little to no problems. For instance, you should never leave a space heating system unattended, and you should consistently keep it in an open area away from furniture or anything hanging like curtains. Although a kerosene heating system has the capability of heating a lake house because it can produce up to 23,900 BTU of heat, it is not recommended to use the heating system as a main heating source. Personally, I will be using an electric space heater because the thought of having a kerosene burning component in our lake house does not sound like a superb plan to me.
