How do you know if you would like to work on HVAC units?

I have been told that I should consider becoming an HVAC technician, but how am I supposed to know if I should be an HVAC technician.

Honestly, I don’t even know if I would like to work as an HVAC technician.

I have nothing against HVAC technicians personally, but I don’t even know a single thing about their job. I know that they fix and install HVAC units, but that is about it. I have never attempted to fix a furnace or a central air conditioner, and I have absolutely no idea how they work. Obviously, if I decided to become an HVAC technician, I would probably learn all that I need to know in order to become an HVAC technician, but that seems like a lot of commitment for a job that I don’t even know that I would like. Is there a way for me to figure out if I would like to work on HVAC units? I wish that there was some kind of tutorial or short demonstration for maybe a week that would let me learn some of the basics to see if I would actually enjoy working on HVAC units. If I did something like that, then I would know if I could see myself working on HVAC units in the long run. Until then, I would hate to get sucked into a job that I don’t like, and I would hate to waste my time training to become an HVAC technician if I wasn’t absolutely sure. Maybe there is an HVAC company that would hire me for a summer during high school so I could try it out.
