Somebody found the stolen AC at a pawn shop

About a month ago, I went on a week-long vacation with some friends.

We went to the Tropical Islands and we were gone for 6 days.

When I came home, I found out that my house had been burglarized. Several items were stolen during the robbery, including a brand new computer, smartphone, and a window AC unit that was only a week old. I contacted the police as soon as I got home. Since I had no way of knowing when the burglary occurred, it was hard for the police to track down any information. They did tell me that they would check pawn shops for my air conditioner. They felt that was the best place to start. I didn’t hear anything at all from the police officer until a few weeks later. I received a call from one of the detectives. He wanted me to come down to the station to discuss the stolen items. He asked a lot of questions about the window AC unit. I asked if they had recovered the equipment, but they would not give me any straight answers. I had all of the paperwork from when I purchased the window AC unit a week before the robbery. I gave all of the information to the detectives. I had the name, make, model, and the serial number of the machine that was stolen. The next day I received a call from the same detective. He found the AC unit at a pawn shop in the next town. Thanks to the information that I provided, they were able to identify the machine and the name of the person that pawned the item in question.
