My best friend and I were on our way home from a track meet. We were listening to CDs that I had in a box on the floor of my car. Jack reached for a CD and I swerved to hit a deer. Everything happened really quickly. Jack ended up getting hurt in the accident and we had to go to the emergency room. My car drove just fine other than some pieces of the fender and the tailpipe that were hanging by a thread. When Jack and I arrived at the hospital, he had to go in alone because of the covid protocol. I stayed outside in the car waiting for my friend to text me with an update. It was pretty warm outside so I decided to sit in the car with the AC running. When I turned on the AC, I got nothing. There was no cold air and there was not any Air at all coming from the fan. I knew that was a problem for the air conditioner. I’m glad my car was running, but the problem with the air conditioner ended up being just the tip of the iceberg. The repairs under the hood were much more significant than I realized. After I got home and the car sat for a few minutes, oil started pouring out from under the hood. My car never ran again after that night. I thought that the car was going to be okay, but the insurance company totaled it out and I ended up having to buy a different type of car after the accident.
