It’s hard to believe that I am finally in university.
- There certainly was a time in my life that it seemed as though I’d never get here… Growing up as an only child, I’d spend a great deal of time at my aunt’s locale to be with my cousins… My older cousin went to university when I was 6, and she came back with the best stories! She wasn’t permitted to tell us about the parties and trips, but she always did.
That was the image I had of university for a long while until I grew up and realized it was also a path to a way better future. I certainly am lucky my parents have covered all my expenses, including tuition and books. Having lived in the north for a long period of time, it was a totally different experience going to university in a relatively overheated environment. Our dorm rooms were simple setups with a bed, a studying table, some shelves, and an air conditioner device. After a month in university, I knew I had no way to survive separate from a better air conditioner device. The air conditioner in my room wasn’t sufficient in the least, and even my roommate agreed with me. I called my mother to explain that I was having difficulty sleeping because it was too overheated. She was still in the city going to see some buddies and opted to head to a Heating and Air Conditioning store to find some solutions. My mother wanted to buy me a portable air conditioner device, but the store manager suggested otherwise. She said a better option was an energy-efficient ductless mini-split with additional features such as a dehumidifier.
