Mom got me the best mini-split ductless system

I can’t believe I’m finally in college.

There was a time in my life that it seemed like I’d never get here. Growing up as an only child, I’d spend a lot of time at my aunt’s place to be with my cousins. My older cousin went to college when I was 6, and he came back with the best tales. He wasn’t allowed to tell us about the parties and trips, but he always did. That was the image I had of college for a long time until I grew up and realized it was also a path to a better future. I’m fortunate my parents have covered all my expenses, including tuition and books. Having lived in the north for a long time, it was a weird experience going to college in a relatively hot area. Our dorm rooms were simple setups with a bed, a reading table, some shelves, and air conditioning. After a week in college, I knew I had no way to survive without a better air conditioner. The air conditioning in my room wasn’t satisfactory, and even my roommate agreed with me. I called my mom to explain that I was having difficulty sleeping because it was too hot. She was still in the city visiting some friends and opted to head to an HVAC store to find some solutions. Mom wanted to buy me a portable air conditioning unit, but the store manager advised her otherwise. He said a better option was an energy-efficient ductless mini-split with additional features like a dehumidifier.
