Mice chewed through the gas line to the furnace.

I couldn’t understand why I was aromaing gas in the basement.

  • For the last two nights, the aroma of gas was getting stronger, and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, however my associate and I had a gas furnace, and I was getting distraught! At first I wasn’t distraught.

My associate and I had recently had the fuel tank filled… I thought the gas delivery person may have leaked some gas when he filled the tank; When the gas aroma got worse, I called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C business. I wanted someone to look at the furnace to make sure there was nothing wrong with the furnace. I knew what could happen if a gas furnace broke, and I wanted nothing to happen to my family. When the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman arrived, he went all over the furnace, however he found nothing wrong… The only thing he found was that a mouse had chewed a hole in the gas line, then luckily, there were no open flames around the gas line, and no one had struck a match or caused a spark. The gas fumes would have lit abruptly and possibly caused an explosion; He said the gas needed to be cleaned up officially, and the gas company would need to come back out and repair the gas line. He also advised my friend and I have an exterminator come out and get rid of the mice. I thanked the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman and told him he may have been a lifesaver. He shook my hand and headed out the door, and now, my work was going to begin, so I got on the iphone to call the gas business, get someone to get rid of the gas that leaked into the ground, and an exterminator so it didn’t happen again.
