With the warmer months quickly approaching, my husband Jack, is in a bit of a panic. He is the owner of an HVAC company, and he is afraid that he will not be able to keep up with the coming demand for HVAC service. Currently, the HVAC industry is growing at an exponential rate and there aren’t enough technicians to keep up with the demand. Last Summer, he had 5 HVAC technicians working for him and they all had to work 12 to 14 and on occasion, 16-hour days. Of course, Jack doesn’t want his technicians working those long hours because they will eventually lose productivity, and not to mention the increase in mistakes. So, to prepare for the new busy season, he is trying to hire at least 2 more HVAC technicians to add to his team. Unfortunately, most of the technicians that are currently unemployed don’t have the proper skills to fully perform the tasks at hand. Many of them are new graduates and will need a few years of training in order to become an effective HVAC technician. If Jack doesn’t find any qualified technicians on his own, he plans to reach out to a technical staffing company. A staffing company is great because it can guarantee qualified candidates for the job. He has a couple of months to decide which direction to take. I just hope he finds the qualified help that he needs for his HVAC company.
