It’s been quite the job plus I’m so ecstatic that I had the option to sort of ride that task wave for as long as I did. Working in the resort world has been quite a ride indeed. In fact, this is the first time in 25 years that I’ve been inside the commercial HVAC of a proper office. For years, I’ve worked out of tiny spaces that were carved out for work space. Hotels plus resorts are notorious for never easily having proper offices. Although there are general supervisors and sales personnel, there are few offices. For me, I was outside of the a/c most of the time. I have always been a hands-on supervisor. Primarily, my focus was the outside of the hotels. Whether that was restaurants, pools, recreation programs or special events, I was outside working them. It is quite odd to be inside the commercial HVAC of an office. I was promoted to run a new department in our corporate offices. It’s absolutely a change given what I have been doing for the last 25 years. Yet, I do love the regular schedule plus having a nice office is cool too. There is even zone controlled HVAC in this locale. I have a control device that is right outside my office door. It’s a far cry from running around in subtropical hot and cold temperatures trying to take care of our guests. But again, I’m looking forward to the new challenges. And for me, the crisp, comfortable air conditioning sure doesn’t hurt!
