I grew up in the northern section of the country where the temperature gets pretty freezing during the wintertime months. And when I was a child, our lake house was consistently moderate and toasty in the colder season. Both of us used a radiator that was affixed to a boiler as our heat source during the winter. However, the lake house that we both lived in did not have central heating or cooling. In fact, most houses as well as buildings in the village did not have central heating or cooling equipment. When the houses and buildings were constructed, central heating and air conditioning was not an official component found inside those homes. So, as well as the radiator that the two of us used for heat in the winter, we also had some window A/C units that we used to keep cool during the summer months. Back then, life was much self-explanatory, and I was grateful that our lake house had heat and air conditioning. I have since moved out of that city, so I have been using a central heating and air conditioning device ever since. And of course, it’s a luxury to have cooling as well as a heating component inside our home. For several of those residents that still live in the village that I grew up in, they don’t have the same luxuries. In fact, unless the building or lake house is a newly built structure, chances are the residents are still relying on a radiator for heat and a window air conditioner for cooling in the summer. When you live in the city you get used to those options, and it wasn’t until I moved out that I realized how much more comfort a heating and air conditioning device provides for a home.
