For the longest time, I put off taking a look at our programmable thermostat & trying to figure out how to program it! Because of that, it instead functioned as a regular thermostat for quite some time, then as such, I would manually adjust the temperature whenever I felt the need.
In the afternoons, before I left for work in the summer, I would have to adjust the temperature such that the air conditioning would barely be used at all so that I wouldn’t be wasting cash on cooling a condo that no a single was occupying… Then, I would get lake house to a rather warm condo & manually change the thermostat back up to a temperature that I found comfortable.
It was much the same story for the winter. I would essentially turn off the heat while I wasn’t lake house & return to a actually cold condo & turn the thermostat back up. I would also adjust the temperature in the mornings to make things generally cooler, because I like sleeping in cool temperatures. Then, a single afternoon recently, I got stuck at lake house because of an approaching hurricane! Most if not all suppliers were closed down for a couple afternoons, including mine, so I figured I would take a unbelievable look at the directions for the programmable thermostat that I had left in a closet somewhere & try & figure out how the whole thing worked before I potentially lost power during the hurricane; Well, every one of us never lost power during the hurricane, but I did find the time to figure the programmable thermostat out, & I haven’t looked back since, now the thermostat automatically adjusts itself according to the schedule I have set, so I never come back lake house to an uncomfortable condo anymore!
