Back when I was growing up, we didn’t have a heating and cooling system in the house where we lived.
We lived right on the beach at that point and so we didn’t really have a need for an air conditioning system at all.
We had the nice breeze from the ocean to keep us cool during the summertime and we had a fireplace to keep us warm during the winter. We didn’t need air conditioning like all of the other kids at my school did. As a matter of fact, my brother and sister and I didn’t even know what air conditioning was until we started going to school with all of the other kids. I remember hearing them talk about it one day at recess and I had no clue what air conditioning even was. They were talking about the air vents in their houses and we didn’t even have any air vents in our house at all. It might have seemed to a lot of people like we were poorer than others, but the fact that we didn’t have an HVAC system in our little house didn’t matter to me and my brother and sister at all. We felt like we were the richest people alive because we were able to wake up every single morning to the sound of the crashing waves and the seagulls. The indoor air quality in our home was incomparable to anything else, because we always had the fresh sea breeze in our home and we loved it. We didn’t need a heating and cooling system back then.
