I went to jail: To fix the boiler

The closest I have been to jail is when I pass by it on my way to granny’s house.

It always looks so grim and scary.

The walls are so high up and have electric fencing at the top. The guards can be seen holding their guns patrolling even when you are on the highway. When the call came through to the heating dealership to check on the electric heating system at the jailhouse, we all laughed because up until this point, we did not think jails had heat and AC products installed. The request said that we should be at the jail early the next day. They were complaining the boiler was making a weird noise and the pilot light had been blinking for the past two days. We needed to go in the morning because the prisoners go to do their chores during this time. When we got there, it was the same grim and scary feeling. There were guards with guns everywhere and the prisoners looked angry and scared. We were taken to where the heater was located. The heating repair team started with the heater maintenance process. The system was actually at the administration part of the prison. They previously had heated floors which were ruined when the hurricane hit. The furnace/heater installation of the current unit was done about a year back. The HVAC tech also changed the furnace filter as part of the HVAC service plan. There were guards with guns guarding us as we were working. We also upgraded the regulator to a wireless thermostat from the heating industry. The experience at the jail was one of a kind, thanks to my work.
