A much-needed break from sports

I have decided to play drums tonight, instead of playing ball.

Playing too often has caused my knees to hurt; they’ve hurt for a while.

I have 55-year-old knees, and they have been through a lot over the years, so I need to be a little more patient with them now. Most of the damage came years ago, from skydiving; I was a swooper and had a lot of hard landings. I take a lot of supplements for the pain and to keep my joints working well but nothing beats rest. I’ve been completing heating and cooling systems service calls for the last few years. Constant use of my knees is required in this business. Sometimes I have to squat down and bend over for hours, so my knees and back can go through a lot of strain on a tied up workday. I try not to take pain pills when working a lot for the local company because too many pills taxes my kidneys and liver. I will try to take more natural pain relievers like turmeric when I have pain, so that my liver and kidneys aren’t overloaded. Next month, I am installing a whole home media air cleaner in my home. My apartment is on the fourth floor, and there’s no elevator, so I will need to carry it up all those flights of stairs by myself – another reason that I am resting my knees and back more this weekend. I should be good in a couple of days.
