Are Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine workers considered self-employed? I have regularly wondered about this because I have met Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine workers that were self-employed, & I didn’t even know that this was an option to be entirely honest.
Apparently, there are a fair amount of trades that are self-employed, but there is a loophole that allows people to do this… I had no clue about it.
Technically, the Heating, Ventilation & A/C experts work for the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business. The Heating, Ventilation & A/C business sets hours for the Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine workers, & the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business pays them a salary for their work. However, the Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine workers are considered self-employed. The tools that Heating, Ventilation & A/C business use are paid for by the Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine workers themselves, & if they have to drive someone, the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business is paying for gas. The Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine business also has to pay double taxes, but what does that mean? Well, normally, if the Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine business is an employer, they have to pay a percentage of their earnings for benefits such as health insurance & social security. The employee has to pay the other part. However, when you are self-employed, the employee has to cover both parts, doubling their taxes. Now, I don’t really know for certain that Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine workers should technically be allowed to be self-employed. Technically, if the Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine worker is self-employed, then they are the person that sets their own hours. However, if the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business is controlling their hours, then the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business is definitely the employer, & they are responsible for the extra taxes. Do you know if all Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine companies do this or just some? I would really not be happy to find out that my buddy is getting ripped off by his Heating, Ventilation & A/C machine business.
